We protect your personal data
We respect and protect your privacy and comply with all data protection regulations. This applies regardless of whether you are a member or employee of a member office or attend our events as a participant.

2. What data and sources do we use?
We process personal data, which we receive in the context of a membership - including the phase of the application – at BIIS (member administration), if persons register for the participation in a BIIS committee (eg working group), by E-Mail or telephone contact us or register with BIIS GmbH for conferences or take advantage of research or valuation services. In addition, we process personal data that we have received as permitted (eg in the context of planning, organization and execution of conferences, for the fulfillment of contracts with members, customers, suppliers and service providers or on the basis of your consent). On the other hand, we process personal data that we have legitimately been able to research and process from publicly available sources (eg commercial registers, media).
Relevant personal data may be:
Name, professional address / other contact details (e-mail address, telephone), and possibly your position in the company, job title, account details, date / place of birth, photos.
In the context of a business relationship, in particular through personal, telephone or written contacts, further personal data, eg. Information about the contact channel, date, occasion, result, (electronic) copies of correspondence.
Particular categories of personal data known as "sensitive data", e.g. We do not raise any religious affiliation.
3. What do we use to process your data and on what legal basis?
We process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (DS-GVO) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
a. For the fulfillment of contractual or contractual obligations (Article 6 (1b) DS-GVO)
The processing of personal data takes place in order to fulfill our duties of association (justification and implementation of a membership in BIIS) and in the context of the implementation of contracts with members, third parties, service providers / suppliers. Our association purposes result from our statute. Our statutory tasks are:
BIIS GmbH is the economic business of BIIS e. V. and helps us in the fulfillment of our association law tasks.
b. As part of the balance of interests (6 para. 1f DS-GVO)
If necessary, we process your data in order to safeguard our legitimate interests or that of a third party (eg representation of the rights and interests of our members to promote the investment location Germany, asserting legal claims and defense in legal disputes, marketing for our events). If, for example, your contact details are collected during an event, we will save them for the future contact in connection with our events.
c. On the basis of a consent (Article 6 (1a) DS-GVO)
Insofar as you have given us consent to the processing of personal data for specific purposes, the lawfulness of the processing of this data is based on your consent. A given consent can be revoked at any time. This also applies to declarations of consent that were given to us before the validity of the DS-GVO, ie before 25 May 2018. Please note that the revocation only works for the future. Processing that took place before the withdrawal is not affected.
4. Who gets your data?
Within BIIS, only those persons gain access to your data, which they need to fulfill our purposes. The processing is carried out by BIIS staff entrusted with the processing, who are obliged to maintain secrecy, so that your interests in the processing of the data are adequately protected. Our processors (Article 28 DS-GVO) may also collect data for these purposes. These are, for example, companies in the categories IT service.
We may only share information about you outside BIIS if required by law or if you have given your consent.
5. How long do we save your data?
If necessary, we will process and store your personal data for the duration of your BIIS membership, for the duration of the performance of contractual services and future information on BIIS events. If the data are no longer required for the fulfillment of our association purpose, legal or contractual obligations, these are regularly deleted, unless their temporary storage is still necessary. Legal deadlines are specified in particular in the Commercial Code and the Tax Code. The deadlines for storage and documentation are two to ten years. Civil law periods of limitation may be up to 30 years, whereby the regular limitation period is three years.
6. What privacy rights do you have?

With the information right and with the cancellation right the restrictions in pursuant to §§ 34 and 35 BDSG apply. In addition, you are entitled to file a complaint with the Hessian data protection supervisory authority (Article 77 DS-GVO § 19 BDSG).
7. Is there a duty for me to provide data?
You will only need to provide the personal information necessary to begin and perform your association membership or to perform your duties or other business dealings with BIIS. If you decide not to provide the information required, we may not be able to accommodate your request or participate in an event if it can not be performed without proper processing of certain information.
8. To what extent does BIIS perform automated decision making?
In principle, we do not use automated decision-making pursuant to Article 22 DS-GVO.
9. Can this privacy policy be changed?
We reserve the right to change the privacy policy in order to adapt it to changed legal situations or to changes in the service or the data processing. Users are therefore asked to keep up to date with the content on our website.

Information about your right of objection under Article 21 DS-GVO
You have the right, at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation, to object to the processing of personal data concerning you pursuant to Article 6 (1) (f) DS-GVO (data processing based on a balance of interests).
In the event of a disagreement, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the purpose of enforcing, pursuing or defending legal claims.
